The original Bircher muesli goes back to the Swiss doctor Maximilian Bircher-Benner, who first served the popular muesli variety at an alpine hut and later developed it further into a dietary food for his patients.
Even today, Bircher muesli is appreciated not only among lovers of wholefoods. And not without reason: because it is one of the healthiest breakfast variations worldwide. The high fiber content of the oatmeal keeps you full for a long time, nuts provide the body with important and healthy fats, and the apples contain important vitamins and minerals.
And today, the healthy classic gets a special twist: sprouted oats from SUNDAY NATURAL. These are 100% natural and in raw food quality. Sprouted oatmeal is particularly healthy and is considered a real superfood!
What makes sprouting so special?
Sprouting activates plant hormones and enzymes that harness and convert the storage substances in the grain (carbohydrates, fats, protein). Starch is converted into sugar compounds, protein into amino acids, and fats are converted into easily utilizable fatty acids. As a result, the taste is more intense and the natural sweetness is better accentuated.
The sprouting of seeds also offers many nutritional advantages, because not only does the taste change, but the sprouting process also produces additional nutrients. At the same time, the reduced phytic acid makes the grain more digestible, fats, proteins and carbohydrates can be better utilized and allergens are reduced.
For 2 servings you need:
For the Bircher Muesli:
100g sprouted rolled oats from Sunday Natural
250ml plant milk
2 tablespoons nuts of your choice
1 apple, sweet and sour
Optional:
Sweetener of choice
Cinnamon
Preparation:
Mix the sprouted oatmeal (100g) with 250ml of vegetable milk, divide it between 2 small bowls and leave it in the refrigerator, preferably overnight.
The next morning: wash the apple well and grate it finely.
Chop 2 tablespoons of nuts coarsely.
Add apples and nuts to the oatmeal mixture and garnish the finished muesli with cinnamon and sweetener to taste.
Enjoy!
