This spread does not only make vegan hearts beat faster!

When you think of vegan substitutes for sausage, dry rice cakes aren't exactly the first thing that come to mind. But those are exactly the main player in this vegan mett. Along with the right spices, vegetable broth and a little oil, the result is a spread that comes scarily close to the original in both consistency and taste. Thus, once again, it proves: It's the right seasoning that counts, not the meat.
For 4 large servings you need:
100g rice cakes
300ml vegetable broth
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. smoked paprika powder
1/2 tsp sweet paprika powder
1/2 tsp. hot paprika powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. marjoram
Black pepper
A few dashes of Liquid Smoke
Preparation:
Crumble the rice cakes coarsely with your hands.
Mix the vegetable broth with the remaining ingredients and pour it into the rice cake crumbs.
Now knead the mixture firmly with your hands until everything is combined.
Season again to taste and leave in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Enjoy!
Tip: If you like raw onions, you can also mix chopped onions into the Mett.
